About Me

I am a PhD candidate in Second Language Acquisition at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My research interests are informed by the years I spent teaching high school Spanish to children from racially and linguistically marginalized backgrounds. I use qualitative methods to investigate language ideology and linguistic identity formation in language learning environments. I am also interested in the interplay between shifts in teacher beliefs and practices, and what kind of professional learning leads to individual and collective self-efficacy. My goal with my work is to  bridge research and practice to bring about equitable teaching using critical language awareness.
